Not all THC drinks are built the same

How our emulsion compares with raw THC oil and a typical off-the-shelf mix.

Getting THC into a drink is the easy part. We built ours to keep it there.

The problem

THC is an oil. Drinks are water.

Like the oil in salad dressing, THC floats to the top, sticks to the inside of the can and tastes bitter. That's why THC drinks can taste off and lose their dose sitting on a shelf.

We fix that with an emulsion: THC broken into droplets far too small to see and spread evenly through the drink.

What we do

What we do differently

Nobody else makes emulsions the way we do. Here's what's different.

Pharmaceutical-grade equipment

We make every emulsion ourselves on pharmaceutical-grade equipment, not blenders. That's how we get droplets this small and dial in the exact size a drink needs.

Every droplet the same size

Big droplets float up and take THC with them. Ours come out close to the same size, so the THC stays spread through the drink, can after can.

Every droplet is coated

The THC sits inside a coating, so it stays off your tongue. You taste a real Peach Bellini, not THC.

Built only for Herb & Lou's

We designed this emulsion around their four flavors, their dose and the exact can they ship in. No one else has it.

Terpenes

Why we put terpenes in Herb & Lou's

The hemp plant makes more than THC. It also makes terpenes, the natural compounds behind a plant's smell and character, and they shape how THC feels. This is called the entourage effect. A THC-only drink leaves all of that out.

Herb & Lou's is made to support laughter, so we added a blend of terpenes chosen for a social, upbeat experience, the kind you want for a night of laughing with friends. They also boost the flavor and add to the effect. They ride in the same coated droplets as the THC.

Terpenes add another layer of complexity to the emulsion chemistry, so we built our own emulsion system just for them, made in-house from the raw oils.

The science behind the entourage effect

Some terpenes act on the same systems in the body that THC does, and some act on receptors of their own, which is how they can change the way THC is felt. In 2024, researchers at Johns Hopkins gave people THC with and without a terpene found naturally in cannabis, and the terpene changed how people experienced the THC. We pair research like that with more than ten years of hands-on work with terpenes.

  • 39plant-derived terpenes from plants like citrus, lavender and hops
  • 485people in controlled trials of the blend, who reported a warm, relaxed feeling
  • GRASevery terpene is generally recognized as safe by FDA standards

Who we are

The science company behind the can

Teeny Tiny Science builds delivery systems for cannabinoids, terpenes and botanicals, in liquids and powders. We've spent more than ten years getting oils to behave in water. Our science is led by Dr. Noel Palmer, PhD.
